RPA Scholarship Information

PURPOSE OF THE PROGRAM


The RPA Family established a Scholarship Fund to assist students who are descendants of the Robinson Pauley Aldridge Family. An immediate  family member of the applicant must have participated in three of the last five family reunions. For the purposes of this scholarship immediate family means mother, father, sibling and grandparent. Students must be pursuing either a college degree or a tradesmen craft from an accredited institution. Students must have been accepted by an accredited institution and a letter of acceptance must be forwarded to the committee.  
 

NATURE OF THE SCHOLARSHIP

 

The scholarship is awarded in the amount of seven hundred and fifty dollars ($750.00), which can be used to assist the student in the purchase of books, supplies, or any other charges assessed by the institution. 


FINANCIAL SUPPORT FOR SCHOLARSHIPS 


The scholarship is funded by family members attending the annual family reunion in the amount of ten dollars ($10.00) or other donations.



METHOD OF SELECTION 


Each year the applicant must complete and submit his/her scholarship application. The Scholarship Committee will review all applications and the selected applicant will be notified in the month of June. 


The scholarship will be awarded in July at the annual family reunion. To be eligible to apply, the student must: 

  • have attended one of the last three family reunions; 
  • be accepted by an accredited institution; 
  • have interest in pursuing post-secondary education or tradesmen craft; 
  • submit an essay; and 
  • be age 24 or younger.


The following must be received by April 15:
 

Application with essay and one of the following: 

  • College Acceptance Letter (incoming students)
  • Enrollment Verification (active students) - may include a signed letter from a counselor or enrollment certificate
